The background may be distracting you, but I want you to understand you live in a Post-Modern world. Women are rising up, taking their place in the world. Many women have skills which are way ahead of men. 
Let the best person do the work. And that includes the work in the church, and that includes the leadership of the church. 
Why should a man who has inferior skills be above a woman who would do a better job.
I have no hesitating in saying God used Deborah. If you read the story you will come to the conclusion that Barak was afraid. Deborah was not afraid. She said, `I will surely go with you.'
So, do not be afraid, run with your vision. 
God/Jesus/Holy Spirit, makes no mistakes. If he has called you, RUN!
Do not let any man stand in your way, after all you are dealing with God. With God on your side, nothing is impossible.
Keep an extremely close with your Lord. Spend time each day with him and He will empower you so that you can accomplish your vision in ministry
RUN!!!!
