A Selection of a leader.

It was interesting to read in the Sydney Morning Herald 8th Jan 2004 that the head of the Anglican Church in Australia Dr Peter Carnley  was going to retire in May next year as primate and as Anglican Archbishop of Perth.
On  ABC radio he said, `That any Fundamental person would not get his vote.'
Dr Peter Carnley will not support a Fundamentalist.
I assume God will listen to Dr Peter Carnley and will not appoint a Fundamentalist into his position when he retires.

We do have choices when we decide who is going to replace people from positions.

The challenge is, are we willing to let God put in the person he chooses,.or are we going to dance loudly to get our way

Why are we so keen to stack meetings so that we choose a person that suits out Theological perspective.

We know the voting is carried out by people who are selected out of the organisation. A vetting is carried out to make sure the correct person is chosen to vote.

By restricting the people who can vote in an organisation  it is safe to assume that God's person may be sidelined. The trouble is people have too many biases and agendas. They shore up their positions. God has no biases at all and he will put in the person who is best for glorifying  his name and accomplishing his work.

Dr Peter Carnley is clearly wrong in saying he will not support a Fundamentalist. He should choose the person that God chooses (of course God may choose an unexpected person). And remove any restrictions on voting. Let every person in the Anglican church have a vote. This way God will have his man replacing Dr Peter Carnley (But that is not possible under the Anglican tradition/ law. A true referendum with the people in choices in positions, would be dangerous for those who are entrenched in the hierarchy.).

Even though I have directed my comments to the Anglican Denomination. The same can be said about any organisation that claims to be God's instrument in the world. Let God make the choices.

But I guess, most people have a distant relationship with God. They are taught by the organisation ( traditionally they follow denomination dogma. They claim their position  is Bible based, of course) rather then to be taught by God himself.

If I am wrong in what I have said, let me know and I will display your comments for others to see.
