How to Strengthen Your Prayer Life
- Develop a prayer discipline - To enhance your prayer
life Schedule 15 - 30 minute intervals of uninterrupted prayer
time each day - and increase it. A strong prayer relationship
requires regular commitment. In your prayers, incorporate: Adoration,
Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication
(ACTS).
- Create Prayer Space - Within your home, find a
private space that you can use daily to meet the Lord for prayer
and meditataion. In prayer time, you will both listen and talk.
Increase your listening time by incorporating meditation into
your devotional sessions.
- Pray for the need and not the answer - Use prayer
time to seek the counsel of God rather than to issue commands
and instructions to god. Always pray in the name of Jesus.
- Develop a fasting discipline - You should fast and
pray in order to humble yourself and purify your heart and your
motives. In fasting, we are not trying to get something from
God, but we are seeking to realign our heart's affections with
His. Fasting enables us to cleanse the sanctuary of our hearts
from every other rival and to be totally available to God.
- Memorize and recite scripture - The memorization and
recitation of scripture allow one to incorporate scripture into
his or her prayers. When we quote the Word during prayer we
center and empower ourselves in the Lord.
- Create a blessings list - Daily record all of your
answered prayers. Share your lists with God as you pray and
thank Him for each specific blessing.
- Participate in mid-week prayer services and Bible-study
classes - By participating in prayer services and
Bible-study classes you will mature spiritually and use your
spiritual gifts to further build up the body of Christ.
