Toastmaster
is a great club to be in. For me I was 18 years of age when I started in
Newcastle. I was in the club in Newcastle and in Sydney for about 10 years and
then, after a lot of years later, I joined Toastmaster in GlenInnes
2002.
I am being presented (by Gail Stone
President 2002-2003)
with a Certificate of Appreciation which is given out whenever we participate in
a special project such as speech competitions etc.
I have no hesitation in saying, `Toastmaster has given me confidence in public speaking in front of people, and in everyday interaction with people.'
Look for the pages on this site that is dedicated to Toastmasters (front page).
January is going out the door and I wonder if you have managed to stick to your New Year resolutions. These resolutions are good because they give you an opportunity to say, `I want a new start and I will take the new start in 1st January'. Keeping to your resolutions is a job all by itself. I make resolutions and I made resolutions on the 1st January 2004. I am determined to keep to my resolutions. But it is a fight, but I am determined to be successful. So I have allocated a page to Resolutions.
Charlie
McCowen who lives a few kilometers
from Deepwater at a place called Bolivia is the chairman of the NSW
Farmer's Association Bolivia Branch was involved in a protest with the problem
of wild dogs who were killing stock. A Ms O'Neil, a property owner said more
then 40 sheep were killed in the past six weeks in the Tenterfield
district. Other farmers also lost stock.
Apparently the farmers are angry with the National Parks and Wildlife Service in Tenterfield because they wanted to reintroduce strategic aerial baiting. They were not happy with `Mound baiting'. At the moment, the NSW NPWS did not allow aerial baiting.
The farmers state that this problem of the large loss of stock did not exist 5 years ago.
This information above, and photo, came from The Tenterfield Star. Tuesday, 20 January 2004.
If you go back to the Messages Index for my
messages you will see info about Glen Innes FM Community Station. The
group who applied for a Glen Innes licence is the same group who
were successful in receiving a permanent licence in Deepwater (Only one member
of the Deepwater FM committee is on the Glen Innes committee. Those who had the
expertise to develop the Deepwater station are also supporting Glen FM and
offering technical expertise) Have a look at the Deepwater Railway Station
where they have taken over a couple of rooms to operate and for more information
about the FM Community Deepwater..
Currently the Glen Innes inspirationalists who are hoping to receive the green
light to broadcast in Glen Innes have a wonderful opportunity to offer a service
to the community. But they will need to be good, because ABC, 2NZ and TEN FM
Tenterfield, 89.7 have outstanding radio services for the communities around them. But
a great service can be developed in Glen with a lot of hard work by all those
who wish to be part of the service. I look forward to reporting a great success
story in Glen Innes.
Have a look at the Satire page that deals with
guides for a committee that is trying to survive. Also
if you are a gardener there are new photos of my yard,
taken in Jan 2004 after plenty of rain.
The front page has (c) to show the new work for last week.
See you next week.
Hendrik.
