FM Deepwater 91.1
Evidence 3

BELOW A DRAFT ONLY

Please remember the structure of my research with FM 91.1

1/ The vision statement of FM 91.1
2/ Opening comments about the study and the research's findings.
3/ Evidence for my findings posted.
4/ Summation of the findings in the evidence
5/ Recommendations.
Points 1 and 2 you will need to go back to the beginning. If you start with the Frontpage link `91.1 research' you will understand what I am trying to do.
Evidence postings is happening now and there are still about 5 evidence postings still to be done in the weeks ahead. ( There may be more postings in evidence, as stated, as more information comes across my desk).
Enjoy my research
Hendrik

Note
Today's evidence 3 indicates why the community in the town (Deepwater) and people in the district have stayed away from the FM 91.1 at the station. You will see the evidence below.

Currently 9th January 2005 on air acting as presenters are two board members and a presenter 1 or 2. One board member is on air for only 2 hours. The second board member and the presenter a few more hours. Resulting in the door to FM 91.1 is closed 90% of the time.
That means the Deepwater link of the station is closed. The door is only open for a few hours in the week.

The Australian Broadcasting Authority gave a license FM to Deepwater 1st October 1999. The Deepwater FM would have been transmitting a year or so before that:

That means that after  about 6 years of work the station is closed 90% of the time and all that is working on the station in Deepwater, 2 board members and a presenter who are presenting live to Deepwater people.
(I understand now the FM group are depending on the Glen Innes citizens to fill the spot with live presenters. But that was never the intention in the beginning. There could have been Deepwater and Glen Innes citizens supplying a need in both areas.)

As you go back and look at my comments, the FM Committee had big plans for Deepwater and its citizens. Their vision was never realized and if you hunt down in my Message index (go to Frontpage) you will see they have failed in achieving their goals because of failings in the Deepwater FM Committee (board).
How could this have happened?
Maybe a reason can be found in evidence below.

We are now dealing with the
Monster Charity Auction
that was held on September 26th  3 months ago
On my Frontpage there is a link to look at that event.

It was a day that 11 plus Charity Committees participated , but
no input from the FM 91.1 committee, other then opening the front door to allow the public area of the FM to be an area where people can register to be part of the auction.
So 100 people came through the front door to register
A great opportunity for the FM group to connect (build relationships) with almost every charity group in the district. But they (FM 91.1 committee) did not.

I will now look at 3 events that happened on the day.
The day was a great success.

The cars were there.

The people were there.
About 200 at the time of counting

First  incident happened early in the morning as a charity group tried to set up the BBQ outside of the railway building.

A presenter, FM 91.1, came to the group who had put up the BBQ. The presenter said, they had to move because they had set themselves outside of the presenter's studio. The presenter's voice could have been in a nice way, `Please move the BBQ because it effects my work'.

Jan, I am sure you had a good reason. Would you like to share it with us. I will put the reason here.

But that did not happen. The presenter's voice was full of venom. It  sounded as though if the presenter had a knife the  charity group would have been killed. ( I (researcher) heard the conversation and it was an unpleasant interchange.).

Possibilities.
1/ The presenter had a right to talk like that.
2/ The presenter had an allergy with BBQs
3/ The presenter wanted to make a point. The FM has a say where the BBQ is to be put up
4/ The presenter resented the group who organized the event.

Later in the morning the same presenter 91.1 reported for work. The presenter saw the people who were sitting at the table in the public room of the FM 91.1.

There was an unpleasant exchange as the FM 91.1 presenter wanted to know why those people were allowed to use the room.

The people in the room represented at least three different charity groups. An unpleasant atmosphere existed while the FM presenter was present. At least the FM presenter moved into the studio  and disappeared to do FM work.

It appears to me Jan, that you are holding a grudge against people who had trouble with the FM. Don't you think you should let go of that grudge against people. Give me a little more info. You might have a good reason for the way you talked. to the people.

Possibilities.
1/ The presenter resented people coming into the public area of FM
2/ The presenter had a dislike for the people in the room
3/ The presenter was not told the FM station was to be used. So resented the lack of communication from FM board.
4/ The presenter does not support Charity groups.

A third incident happened about 3PM in the afternoon when a second presenter turned up at the studio.

There was a problem with the town's water supply, so the Fire brigade turned up with their truck and the second presenter was asked to announce over the air that there was a problem with the water supply and it would be turned off for a while.

Have a guess, what did the 2nd FM 91.1 presenter say about this request from the Deepwater Fire Brigade officer?

Did you have a guess...................

The 2nd FM 91.1 presenter said.....listen to this......`Why should I do that?'

No announcement was made.

Colleen, That statement you made appears to me to be terrible disregard of the reason the FM community station exists. Or are you of the same thinking as other board members who feel the FM station belongs to them and not for the community. Give me a little more info. Maybe you have a good reason for your action.

Possibilies:
1/ There is no excuse.
2/ There is no excuse.
3/ There is no excuse.
4/ There is no excuse.
I am not even to list other possibilities. That statement from the 2nd presenter is a disgrace.

In discussing evidence 3 it is obvious there is a serious problem with the attitude of the FM 91.1 presenters. The presenters treated the Monster Charity Auction with contempt.

In this 3rd evidence it is clear that a problem exists between the FM group and the towns  citizens. We are dealing with the whole Deepwater FM 91.1 group, board and presenters. Something is wrong.

My preposition as evidence 2 shows. The problem is not the people in the town, but the problem exists in the Deepwater FM 91.1, board and presenters.

I am sure in the weeks ahead we will finally discover (through evidence 4-7) what the problem really is. I am sure the evidence I supply, will support my findings as stated in the comments earlier before the evidence postings.

If you disagree my research I will give you the opportunity to reply.
You can Email me any time. I will place any material you send to me beside the offending item.

4 possibilities why this happened
1/
2/
3/
4/

In the weeks ahead I will show evidence that the FM group did have the ability to put up the physical material, the infrastructures to have a FM station. But lack the ability and training to deal with people. After 17 plus presenters who came to the station and left the FM group has not understood they have to think about having a person on board who can deal with people.

A trained person would see immediately see what needs to happen when people issues arise. A trained person would set out to sort out the problems that exist with people and will know what to do. Whereas the Deepwater group has destroyed the Deepwater FM station. A FM station without people is not a station at all. As one listener who stated to me (researcher), `We want live presenters otherwise we might as well put on CDs on at home.' That is exactly the case, but the Deepwater FM group believe they do not need presenters (They are listening to the wrong people). (A board member said exactly that.  New FMs will do without presenters). Yet surveys show that when radio stations move away from live presenters people stop listening.

I will also show you evidence in the future that Deepwater FM Committee did not want a trained person on the board because they (board) wanted to keep control of the presenters.
